How It Works

The Supervised Ski Bus Program ensures your child is cared for from the moment they’re signed in at the bus stop until they’re safely signed out to an authorized adult at the end of the day. During travel, WEA staff provide full supervision, helping children stay comfortable, organized, and ready for the slopes. Upon arrival at Mt. Washington, participants are either checked into their ski or snowboard program or met by a designated adult (age 16+). At day’s end, WEA staff reunite children with their authorized pick-up and confirm sign-out using photo ID. Supervision is provided continuously from morning check-in to final hand-off, ensuring a safe, structured, and stress-free experience for families.

Pick-Up & Drop-Off Procedures

  1. Please arrive 20 minutes early for check-in.
  2. Authorized pick-ups only: Photo ID is required, and the adult must be listed on your authorized pick-up list.
  3. Late pick-ups: Fees may apply. If no authorized adult is present, staff will follow emergency contact procedures.
  4. Changes to pick-up: Submit changes in writing (email) before departure; last-minute changes are not guaranteed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can my child ride without being in a Mt. Washington program?

Children must either be enrolled in a full-day or half-day Mt. Washington Snowschool program, or be met at the mountain by an authorized adult (age 16+). This ensures appropriate supervision while on-snow.

What happens if I’m late for pick-up?

Please arrive at least 20 minutes early for sign-out. If no authorized adult is present at pick-up, staff will contact your emergency contacts and follow our supervision procedures. Late-pick-up fees may apply if staff must remain after hours.

Who supervises the children during the trip?

WEA staff provide full supervision during travel, breaks, and off-snow time. While on the mountain, Mt. Washington Snowschool instructors oversee participants during their lessons. Together, both teams ensure continuous, safe care throughout the day.

How do medications work during the day?

All medications must be given to WEA staff at morning check-in in original labeled containers, with clear written instructions. Staff administer medications according to your provided details and record each dose. Children should not carry medications in their personal bags unless pre-approved (e.g., inhalers).

What happens if the weather is bad or the road closes?

Safety always comes first. In the event of poor weather or highway closures, the trip may be delayed, rescheduled, or cancelled. Families will be notified via the contact info on file (usually by email or SMS). Credits or refunds are handled according to WEA’s Terms & Conditions.

What if my child is sick or needs to cancel?

Please inform us as soon as possible through the WEA Registration Portal or by email. Depending on the timing and circumstances, a credit or transfer may be available. Review the full cancellation policy in the Terms & Conditions document linked above.

Can my child bring a phone or tablet?

Electronics are discouraged. WEA cannot take responsibility for lost, damaged, or stolen items. Staff will have access to communication devices for emergencies, so your child won’t need one.

What should my child bring for lunch and snacks?

Please pack a nut-free lunch and snacks in a small, reusable container. Lunch is typically eaten indoors at Mt. Washington. Avoid sugary drinks and glass containers; include a refillable 1 L water bottle.

Are rentals available at Mt. Washington?

Yes — Mt. Washington offers rental packages for skis, snowboards, and helmets. Please reserve rentals when booking your child’s Snowschool program. WEA staff can assist your child with gear pick-up and drop-off at the rental shop.

How will I know when the bus is returning?

Approximate return times are posted in your registration confirmation. Buses may vary slightly due to weather or traffic. You’ll receive email or SMS updates if there’s a significant delay.
